Benefits of Mycorrhizal Fungi
Mycorrhizal Fungi exist in symbiotic relationship with plant roots. Mycorrhizal literally means fungus root. Nature’s Creation® Organic Cactus & Succulent Mix with Mycorrhizal Fungi contains 11 different strains of the genera Glomus, Rhizopogon, Pisolithus and Scleroderma. Mycorrhizae are divided into two basic classes, Endo and Ecto. The Endomycorrhizae actually penetrate roots to help capture nutrients and micronutrients from the soil. Ectomycorrhizae work mainly with woody plants forming what is commonly known as the Wood Wide Web. Both types benefit the host plants by increasing drought tolerance, water and nutrient uptake and disease resistance.
Directions for Use
DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Potting and Repotting
Cacti and succulents should be repotted once a year. Most tap water has a relatively high pH and contains minerals and additives that build up in the soil. Nature’s Creation® Cactus & Succulent Mix with Mycorrhizal Fungi helps restore the proper pH level.
Cacti do get larger and should be repotted when the plant looks out of proportion to the pot. Always take care when handling and potting cacti and succulents. While they may thrive in their natural harsh environments, they do not like to be overhandled and their prickly nature is obvious. Cacti store their moisture supply internally and their roots help them quickly absorb the scant moisture from their arid soils. This makes many cacti top heavy with delicate root systems. Be gentle.
Choose a pot that is not too large for the plant. Clay pots are best when possible but plastic and ceramic work fine. Remember that plastic pots and ceramic pots do not allow the moisture to exaporate as quickly as clay so be careful not to over water. Keep in mind the season and ambient humidity when watering.
